Electricians use this. Its a rubbery tape that is not sticky but bonds to itself;
self-amalgamating or self fusing tape.
The state my rear brake linkage was in when I got the old heap had to be seen to be believed, so I wanted to make sure that didn't happen again.
It looks like tape but when pressed hard together it becomes one piece. Its some sort of rubber material and stretchy.

The brake pedal has had the pivot hole each side chamfered and a thin rubber 'O' ring inserted to seal out any water. The assembly can be quite tight to keep out the muck as long as its lubed properly because the big spring has more than enough pressure to return the pedal.

All connection had some corrosion , some more than others as well as broken connectors, bare wires etc. after doing all that work to put the harness right I thought this might help keep it that way.

Thats not rust you see, by the way; it's copper based grease.
