A forum for stories, pics and updates of your resto's. Be it a barn find, Grampas hand me down or a bike being brought back to it's former glory. If you are restoring it, show us your stuff!
I know that this is a bit late but I figured I should finally start a thread on my bike "Murphy". I bought her 13 months ago from a guy on craigslist for $350. She was given to him by his neighbor who was too old to bring her back to life. The bike had been sitting since 1988 and only had 12,500 miles on her. Her motor cranked but would not fire and no brakes ect.. a total mess. When I bought her I had ZERO knowledge of working on bikes. I would have never been able to do what I have done without finding this forum. A very BIG thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way. The kinship among everyone here is heartwarming and makes me thankful that there still is decent people in this crazy world.
I know that some of the images will make the purists cringe but all of the resto was done in my buddies back yard and the parking lot of my apartment complex. But hey, a guy gotta do what a guys gotta do right?
*Side Note* I've always been a jump in with both feet and hit the ground running kind of guy so forethought of taking pictures is not my strong point. All of the pictures are from my phone so not totally top notch. Also there are 2 parts of this story, this will be explained when the time comes.

I always love hearing a guy say, "I have no knowledge of motorcycles" and then he jumps right in to whip things into shape while learning every step of the way. Good for you.

You're doing fantastic. This is a great way to learn about motorcycles.

That first pic looks as if you are looking at the gas tank. Then thinking, "There is no way it comes out through there".

There is always high satisfaction when it comes out nice and runs well. Even if there are a couple of do-overs along the way (mostly paint in my case) it's still all good.
(And it's nice to see you have a motorcycle. I thought your only reason for being here was to pick on me.)
