I changed the u joints in my 86 IROC 2 years ago and they were the original ones held in with the plastic retainers..
I wonder if you would throw the drive shaft out of balance if the globs of epoxy were different weights..

Here's the difference between a 1000 shaft and an 1100 shaft, which I mentioned above. The 1100 front yoke was too beefy to get the old crosses out by pressing them inward, as you do, so I had to saw it off. The cross replacements were the same size, so I could put an 1100 swingarm onto a 1000 frame.

I have several old driveshafts, mostly 1000's, that need U joints. I would be interested in the part number, and supplier of the
u joint you used. My supply of good 100 shafts is down to one :(

I tried to cross reference it on rock auto and couldn't either. Hopefully it isn't a proprietary u joint exclusive to freight shakers.
ETA..found this cross reference for a spicer..was all excited until I saw the made in china part. :(

Doesn't really matter. Was only $30 or so shipped to my door. The BMW one, which was rumored to be the one Honda used for the Goldwing, last I checked, was $60.

Moog #405 is the same part. I have one coming through my local parts guy. $19 and change.

I got the Moog 405 u joint today and installed it. It appears to be a little wider than the stock U joint and the cups don’t slide into the yokes quite as far as the factory joint. I saw no other option other than to stake it on place with a center punch much like the factory did. Between the interference fit and staking it I feel comfortable that it will stay together.
