Wow Salukspeed that's amazing advice! Thanks I'll give it a crack.
On the other hand, my speedo has stopped moving at all, which means I guess that it's toast and no longer salvageable through this method?
Thanks again!

No longer moving could be the cable or drive has failed due to the binding spedo. but no longer moving is not a good sign.

Well, I got yet another speedo for this season. Will be following your advice, but if it stops working I'm buying an electronic chinese generic thing.

Kinda fun to see these old threads come 'back to life' after 5 years since we added the 'related topics' at the bottom of the current page ....

Don't make that mistake. I did on both of my bikes and it was a waste of time & money. I ended up replacing the generic eBay/China electronic instruments on both with Danmoto 180 "cockpits" and I am very pleased with the results. The Danmoto is a much better made item, it works better and they even have actual tech support people that speak English fluently and answer emails quickly https://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&p=681434Johnnygoesnaked wrote:Well, I got yet another speedo for this season. I agree with Sidecar Bob. Don't buy the cheap chinese junk. He had a lot more success with the Danmoto 180 than I did with the cheap chinese junk. I eventually threw it away. If I had to do it over again, I'd go the way he did. Hopefully that won't happen for awhile.

Right, thank you. Well it's an 81 so the Danmoto thingy isn't going to fit, but noted, thanks

Re: Speedometer jumping around and making whining noise....
Why wouldn't a Danmoto work on an '81?
