Re: A really cheap & easy GL1000 dipstick
I'd be interested in this dipstick for my GL1100. Being a Brit,my sidecar is on the left,so its almost impossible to see the oil level through the sight window.
What is the cost?

Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

Re: A really cheap & easy GL1000 dipstick
At this point they cost $55 plus shipping. I engineered them so as no modifications are needed to the bike or the engine, and the oil can be drained without removing it from the bike. High quality metal, chrome plated, will not rust

Yeah. As long as you know how deep the oil is supposed to be on whichever stand you choose and you are consistent it should work.NCScooter wrote:Sidecar Bob-- Do you measure the oil w/ the bike on the side or center stand? I'm thinking it shouldn't matter as long as I'm consistent. And the oil would be easier to reach on the center stand, no?
I made mine specifically so that I wouldn't have to put the bike onto the centrestand just to check the oil. A few years ago I added a sidecar and converted to a Drag Specialties dipstick (until recently the only one made that didn't leak all the time). If I was doing it now I would get one from WingNovations.
BTW: Sorry for not answering this earlier. Sometimes forum notifications don't make it to my inbox.

Holy thread resurrection Batman..
I have 3 wings and would love to have a dipstick to check the oil in them.
Cyborg..if there was enough interest..would you consider another run of dipsticks?

I haven't checked lately, but a guess would be around $85 plus shipping
