Shelter lock 75-77 models
How to open a Top Shelter on a 75-77 witout the keys.
Remove the seat. Remove the small colored trim piece at the back of the shelter
Using a long skinny straight slot or something similar find the gap at the back of the shelter frame. Insert your screwdriver there.
Gently slide the screwdriver over aginst the spring on the right hand side of the lock mechanism. Once you feel the spring then push the tip of the screwdriver down. It should not take much effort. Applying a bit of pressure to the top in the direction of opening may help.
She should pop right open!!

Re: Sheter lock 75-77 models
On my '78, if you push the lid at the lock end to the right, the lock will disengage. You have to really mean it, though.

It worked for me! I thought my keys were inside, but sadly they weren't.

That's also a good trick if you don't close your gas cap and it jams. I did that once and thought id never get it open.

Great tip WF.
Your pics and written description make it very clear to understand, so I expect even I can do this.

Boss, this will be easier to find as a reference if the title is fixed to Shelter not Sheter.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.
