The numbers I posted came from
https://lindsaycycle.dealerspikeparts.c ... f33/clutch
https://lindsaycycle.dealerspikeparts.c ... ee6/clutch

I am assembling my 1100 engine now and I have my 1000 parts engine in the shop. The outside diameter of the 1100 plates is bigger than the outside diameter of the 1000 plates.
In this pic the 1100 plate is on the left and the 1000 plate is on the right

Bob, if you check the bottom of those two links you can see all three numbers listed for the plain plates. Granted that the larger plates will not fit the GL1000 but the GL1000 version is listed as alternatives for all models.
Check this, #5

On my screen the image is on the left and the parts list is on the right on the dealer's site. In both cases we're talking about item #6 and they list the 2 part numbers that I posted for the 1000 and the 3 numbers that I posted for the 1100. But part numbers aside, it is obvious from my pics that the plates that came from the 1100 are larger than the ones from the 1000 so the 1100 plates would not fit in the 1000 basket and I wouldn't use plates that much smaller in the 1100.

Where are you getting the information that all of them can use the same plates from?

The plate listed on the CMS fisc for the GL1200 is a 371 part number, GL1000. The 84/85 1200 clutch is the same size as the 1100. I guess Honda don't think that the difference in diameter is crucial.
I have no idea where the info came from originally. I have known it for a long time.

I noticed that the 371 plate is listed for the 1100 as well but not for the 1000. Now that's odd, isn't it?

Honda Parts lists for these bikes are full of anomolies like that. I searched for ages for one of the two ferrules that join the crankcase halves, before I realise that the parts page had the numbers transposed.

So I searched online for the 22321-463-000 plates and Partzilla'a site said they were in stock so I ordered them. A couple of days later I checked my account on their site and it said they were NLA and that they had substituted 22321-371-010 so I informed them that if the plates that arrived were wrong they would get them back.

The 22321-371-010 plates arrived today and they are the same size as the ones that came in the 1100 engine.

Sometimes I think Honda messes with their own system just to keep us off balance.

I realize this topic is now many years old. Has this modification been discussed more recently or is this thread the most up to date recommended method?

Nothing has changed that I know of. Same design, same issue, same remedy.
