Just found out that I had this problem. when I tried to get the wires out, they all came out at one time. Is there any certain order that they go back together?

No order. Just hook them up.
It's not what people know that gets them into trouble, but what they know that ain't so. -Variously ascribed

I just soldered my alternator to regulator connections.
Shoulda done it when I first read about it. In thinking back on it, I am willing to bet that plug is the cause of my poor idle, and not the carbs. Weak spark and the lights stealing current from the ignition and the curcuit wouldn't handle the current needed for the lights and ignition to run right.
I added six inch sections to each wire, to be able to get enough for them to connect together. Mine were short after cutting the plug out. I just clipped the wires dead even with the plug surfaces.

Heck it shows a charge (barely) at idle now!

I am still considering LED tail and turnsignal lights, though.

Soldering the wires is a redneck fix no matter how you look at it.

It's all a matter of degree. ;o) A little red neck or massively redneck. A properly packed connector is good almost forever and that's the way I prefer to do it.
