1978 GL1000 Parts

#1

Post by cfairweather »

I just got a 1978 Parts bike and am looking to sell the complete exhaust system. I bought this parts bike because I needed the front end, but I have no need for the rest of it. Make an offer on the Exhaust and let me know if there is a specific part you need. UPDATE: I gave the exhaust to someone.

I would be interested in the exhaust system. Do you have any pictures?

Here are the before cleanup pictures. After a closer look, the right pipe (The bottom pipe in the fourth picture) is not in very good condition. Notice a couple of dents and a crack which appears to be rust from the inside out. It also has swelling near the crack which confirms it is very rusty inside. The left looks better. There are some good things and some bad things. It would not be worth the shipping costs to send the right one to Ireland. Let me clean them up and disassemble everything to get a better look. Maybe I will have time later today.

The Good:
The complete left exhaust pipe from end to end is in nice shape. Both muffler shields, left and right sides) are in nice shape. Both of the black mounting brackets are in good shape. The clamps are in pretty good condition. Both manifold pipes looked good. See pictures below.

The bad:
The right side muffler went into the trash except for the muffler shield, clamps and black mounting bracket.

The ugly:
The other parts that were in bad shape are the chrome manifold shields so I didn't even clean them up. Did not take a picture of these after these were removed. You don't want them :).
