Not the sharpest knife proof
I am ratting on my self and confessing stupid. Was helping my neighbor with his walk behind toro mower that just ran horribly. In my desire to help I promptly pulled the carb off to normally remove the fuzz or debris stuck in the main jet or needle/seat but found a spotless perfectly clean specimen. After 4 attempts at cleaning and inspection I noticed the idle mixture had fallen out and was a major air leak into the fuel passage. After stealing one from a salvaged carb all is well. Just an evenings lack of concentration and over confidence kicks my butt back into humble reality . Feels good to figure it out finally.

Re: Not the sharpest knife proof
Kinda funny. I just had to do this with my mower that has sat since we started using landscapers to take care of the yard. I figured, how hard could it be to clean up a simple little carb for a mower? Kicked my butt for the entire afternoon until I realized that the screw that holds the float bowl on is also a jet and it was plugged. Once cleared it fired up on the first yank...sheeez.

Re: Not the sharpest knife proof
Local Lawn mowing guy brought me a leaf blower recently with a busted recoil rope. No big deal right!!
3 weeks and 4 parts orders later I got it back to him. Felt like a real heel asking him for 50 plus in parts for a dang start rope but stuff happens. When it was done I told him parts plus 10 bucks but he insisted on giving me more. Honesty pays for itself sometimes even if your are stupid!

Our Airport Fire rescue truck has a gas rescue saw on it. Recoil cord keeps breaking, been trying different things to get one ot hold for about a month now. New spool and many ropes into this project....

Have a heavy duty friend that cuts wood for his wood stove and went thru a couple pull ropes too. I finally figured out that he was pulling the rope all the way to the very end and by adding 8 inches more to the spool just filling it he no longer ripped it apart every year.Oldewing wrote:Our Airport Fire rescue truck has a gas rescue saw on it. +1 I had the same issue with my mower. Longer cord, less stress...salukispeed wrote:Have a heavy duty friend that cuts wood for his wood stove and went thru a couple pull ropes too.
