Fluid Drive is the predicesor to the Automatic.

Doubt if it ran Moonshine! Flathead six leaves a lot to be desired, power wise!

As I recall, you had a clutch, but could shift gears without using it. Only to start and stop........old school.....real old school

On the Dodge, you use the clutch to choose one of three gears, then you can drive it as a standard with a clutch, or as a automatic without clutch.

On the Desoto; it is called a "Tap and Go". Only a two speed-low and high-you clutch to choose gear, then as RPM increases, you let off gas, and it shifts on its' own. You cannot drive the Desoto as a standard!
