GL1000 float bowl gaskets
This may have been posted before by Randakk or Octane, but here is something to watch out for. GL1000 float bowl gaskets can easily shift over and into contact with a float, causing the dreaded overflow-into-the-plenum scenario. Avoid this by not reusing gaskets (especially if the gasket's locating tang is bent or missing), and of course by using quality gaskets such as Randakk's to begin with. Many aftermarket gaskets compound the problem by not being reinforced and thus their shape changes easily, but also because they are cut a little differently and are thus more prone to touching the float, whose pontoons are really close to the sides if the casting in any case. A word to the wise.

Re: GL1000 float bowl gaskets
Thanks. This issue was completely resolved in 2008 for Randakk customers
I continue to be amazed that some vendors still sell inferior, non-reinforced float bowl gaskets that are guaranteed to cause problems!

Found this out the hard way. I wish I could go back in time for this post. I will read up here before I touch the tools. Thanks!

Re: GL1000 float bowl gaskets
My apologies. It appears Photobucket has had another of its many crashes.
