I wouldn't even mind if this was a DIY kit kind of scenario. I just know it will make things much simpler for us non-electrical types.

This board (the one you just ordered) is just for the CDI, correct?
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Thanks! It's all a learning process!

Got the bike out for the first time last weekend. It's running nicely. The cool thing about EFI is they are much less picky about sitting. It fired right up and ran normally, with out any of the coughing and farting that carbs get after a winter layup.

I've gotten 5 of the new boards, but haven't put them together yet. I've been house shopping, and preparing to move is taking all of my time. I'll get back to it sometime in the summer, just in time for some more riding!

Hey Toehead, just curious if you had a chance to make progress with your CDI setup or not?

No! I ended up moving to a new town and the new boards are still in a box in the garage!
The furthest I got was getting the bike to run for about 10 mins using the CDI system on a breadboard.

I'll tackle this soon though.. Promise. Life gets a bit busy with a toddler and one on the way :)

BTW, still running fine. It's in storage for the winter but I had to to move it yesterday and it fired right up, even after being off the tender for the last 5 months.

Toehead wrote: Fri Apr 08, 2016 6:55 am OK... This is also where I idle. It seemed like that was pretty weak vacuum, but if you are the same I guess it's fine :)

For idle control, no I am not. The Metro uses a coolant-temperature actuated fast idle valve (it is a wax capsule mechanical valve). I didn't want to run coolant lines to the throttle body, so I removed this valve and blocked it off. Right now, I just adjusted the throttle stop to have a good idle speed when warm. Of course this means you need to nurse the throttle when cold.

However, I have a PWM air control valve that just arrived. One I get my idle VE really dialed in so that it is stable, I will back the the throttle stop off and use PWM air control to maintain idle. This way cold start should be as simple as hitting the start button: No nursing required!
Sorry for my ignorance. What is Ve?
Thanks.
