Re: dual idf convetsion, why not dual cables?
Tangerine racing makes a cable setup for Posche 914's running webber carbs.
http://www.tangerineracing.com/engine.htm
The is issue is that the distance between carbs on a 914 is way wider then the wings. But if you could figure out a slave cable between the carbs, Tangerines kit will work.

Re: dual idf convetsion, why not dual cables?
No matter which way you go, you have to build it.
Randakk provides decent instructions but no parts beyond the manifolds themselves.
I agree that a bellcrank or dual cables would provide a direct 1:1 ratio between the carbs. I don't agree that it makes any difference in real life. The chance that 0.8° will make a difference would be real hard to check. The difference between jugs on any engine is likely greater than that.
"KISS" is still true.

After seeing this angle on the Webers , I'm all in . The largest concern of mine was putting together a clean , reliable , perfectly working pull system and this looks like the ticket for me ( Have seens some prety jenky set ups , some nice ones too ) Looks like you can get perfectly synchronized banks at all throttle plate angles with this set up . One question , and you may not be to this point yet , what does the pull feel like ?

I'm going with dual cables, and not using that funky crossbar.
Using a dual pull throttle for an early triumph.
In the process of making the "pully wheel" for the carbs now.

Ahh grasshopper, but you can mount speakers and an electric fuel pump on that funky crossbar.

That should work fine, just be aware that setting idle speed is gonna be a PITA. You will have to set the idle speed with a carb sync gauge connected. BMW's have worked like that since forever, and Suzuki Intruders as well. The Intruders have an extra cable for the idle speed adjust, but that would be really hard to make.

Very nice Scott.
I gotta toss my 2 cents in ...
I would not tie them together with a brace.
IMHO expansion and contraction is going to cause problems.
Maybe break the manifold studs or crack the manifolds.
I would brace them with a left and right brace that bolted at the centerline (Making triangles).

15000 miles and nothing has broken (except the hearts of a few other riders).
0.8° of error at 1/2 throttle isn't enough to worry about. A simple setup has the advantage of being...well, simple.

Re: dual idf convetsion, why not dual cables?
Has any body tried this setup for IDF linkage?
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewto ... le+linkage
I want to put IDF's on the 1100 I am working but I plan to use Scat "center pull" linkage.

Hello.
I have DECADE carbs (copy of Weber IDF), and I plan also from the beguining to use a double cable grip to control each carb separately.
I'm happy to find that other people did it and it works!
I will keep you informed...

Great!
I built something similar. Can you show the cable stop, because this was for me the most tricky part...
Thanks

The last picture shows where it bolted to,only underneath. I made 2 (the same) 1 for each side. The cutout in the middle is for the acc pump linkage. Made them from a peice of aluminum angle.

I love it!
It has to be very strong as any deformation of this part will influence the balancing.
