Re: Throttle body injection on GL 1000
Hi Jake2012,
wow, this is very nice! I like your setup very much!! I fabricated today the extended arms for the respaced throttle body connections. Looks good. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Unfortunately the Idea with the cable connection between both sides didn't work out because of to much friction.
I'll do some more research

Hey Taunusrainer I have more pics but I'm going to sell this rig and need to keep it close to the chest. By the way I just purchased your water pump rebuild kit off ebay and was wondering if you think customs will screw me or did you mark it as a gift. You know they let it fly if it is a gift or sample item. I'm sure if you lowered the declared price that works too. Can't wait to get my pump rebuilt so i can ride; weather here in South carolina is great for a putt. later.

Re: Throttle body injection on GL 1000
what size is the stock gl1000 carbs in mm? are the gsxr 1000 similar? would technology advances since the gl came out and the fact that 600 size bikes are now making more power than our 1000 size bikes mean that the 600 would be ideal or better suited? how did you modify the throttle boddies to fit. I am leaning between this or a set of 1000 carbs (since my gl1000 has 1100 carbs) and I'd like to ask many questions before purchasing much. I like the idea of using the bmw throttle a lot.
thanks,
Steve
EDIT: Never mind about the carb size a quick search on randakks site showed me that early wings had 32mm carbs, the gsxr 1000 has 52mm throttle bodies. the 600 has 38mm. if I do this i'm going to go with the 38mm gsxr 600 itb's and microsquirt v3.
thanks,
Steve

Re: Throttle body injection on GL 1000
Hi,
The GSXR 600 TBs are a perfect fit! Even the rubber inner lip is slipping into the TBs grove perfectly. Meanwhile I attached the BMW cable assy and it really works. I'll take some picture on the weekend. I also got some K&N style air cleaner (cone style). They look very good. Now I'm thinking about the location for the wideband lambda controller. I'll go with only one.

Mr. Don... you have inspired me sir. I know you are not going with microsquirt but perhaps this will help you in some way.
http://www.microsquirt.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=24125
I hope you will be willing to continue answering my questions.
since you have used 2 throttle bodies to get the bmw throttle cable to work, how are you setting up the throttle position sensor?
thanks,
Steve Hegel

Re: Throttle body injection on GL 1000
Hi,
actually the mentioned UMC-1 is a even smaller Microsquirt! It's using the same Firmware and the same Setup-Software! I'm using Tunerstudio. Works very well. As a little update and an "inspiration" I took some pictures today of the cable assembly and the TBs.
My work was interrupted by a Z1300 I got My next project after the four other ones.....
The setup is built that way, that I can use the TB with the TPS on it in stock condition. I combined it with a TB with cable assy for the left side of the bike. The cable assy is pointing forward and the TPS is pointing backwards. On the right side it's the opposite way around with a TB without a TPS. If you want to avoid using two GSXR600 TB-Banks (like I did - because I'm lazy) you need to fabricate two similar Throttle arms with new linkage. Shouldn't be too difficult. One little thing I forgot to mention. It is a very tight fit between the TBs on both sides and the cooling pipes from the heads to the thermostat housing. This is why I didn't bolt the TBs together on the lower side and I cut (although you don't have to) the TBs with a metall saw in this arrea a little bit. I'll show how the next time.

Jake, I am honest and declare it as goods with a value of 29$.. ..usually they let it slip through. Sometimes not, but that does not depend on what is on the label.
I hope You will get it soon, did You check the trk id?

Hi,
made some progress. In the picture you can see the injector holders that came out of the CNC-Mill. Thanks to Wolfram!
Next week I'll take some pictures of the whole assy at the bike.....

Re: Throttle body injection on GL 1000
Hi Folks,
long time no write
My projects where on hold because work was eating me up. Since it is still cold outside I spent some time in the garage. Attached you can see that the approach with the split cable was obviously not successful. There was too much backlash. Now I want to build some kind of a bridge between the two TBs and attache the original push/pull assembly of a GW. Other than that I can say that the two milled injector holders are a perfect fit and that they are stabilizing the assembly very well.
