Hello everybody,
I apologize for not writing a long time! I was very sick and had heart surgery. New pipes where put in and now I feel way better :-) I wanted to let you know, that I started working on the system again. I built the fuel rails yesterday and pictures will follow. Since one fellow here started a thread with a quite similar approach I'm really interested in how it worked out.
Stay healthy

Glad you are feeling better. I liked the look of your set-up and wondered what had happened to you.

Parallel I'm working on a TBI system like the one Toehead built. I still have like many others this ebay manifold and I was wondering if it could be converted in something of use:-)

Thanks for taking me back:-) I worked a bit on all projects and since I found that GL1200 SEI solution cool as well (thanks to thesteve and socrace for all the work and advice in there posts!!!) and all sensors and fuel systems are the same I decided to try that route as well! Today I cut 15mm out of the plenum and TIG welded it together. It doesn't weld to good but after a little grinding it is presentable. For the fuel I decided to mill a new cover for the place where the fuel sensor sits and to put two fuel lines in that place- I'll post pictures later. As a fuel pump I'll use a Ford Fiesta JAS pump which sits in the tank.
Does anybody allready have a base mape for a megasquirt 2 for the SEI solution or at least the parameters of the system? Advice is appreciated!!
Greetings

Hi,
I took the exhaust system off and decided where the O2 Sensor will be positioned. I will weld the bung in the right side header 3" before the connection to the muffler. I also did the cam belt tensioner mod- came out pretty good! No more wistling from the old tensioners!
Greetings

Looking good! You'll like the tensioner mod. It's a big improvement over the old stock ones.

Project is looking good. Did the timing belt tensioner mod 18 months ago and have not looked back.

You mention having found the SEi (have an '85 LTD and the FI systems are the same) information, but these bikes do not use an air sensor. Started a thread a while back on another forum regarding looking into what upgrades/improvements can be made to the LTD/SEi FI system. The only part in the system that I can determine that would benefit from an upgrade/improvement would be the ECU. There is really no way to change what is there.

Look forward to following your project and learning from it as well.

Cheers

Hi,
Muffler and headers are back on the bike.
Sensor fits perfectly! From my point of view the best place for it. The position is about 50mm from the muffler edge to the middle of the bung. 40mm would be better- in the header there is a devider which splits it in two chambers for each cylinder and- guess- it ends at about 50mm before the end:-) My Drill bit caught the end of it and lost on the last mm a tooth...
I think it looks good and will work.
Greetings
Karl

I agree... That's about where I put mine as well. The only thing I can think of is that I don't believe that those sensors are supposed to be mounted with the body "downhill" of the exhaust as they collect condensate. There may be an installation guide that can confirm or refute that.
