Thanks alot for the tip about the Kitch-iti-kipi! It was really cool in a relaxing meditative way... Could just stand there and watch to bottom for hours! Perfectly clear!

I asked about the pasty today, but it seems its all with meat which we dont eat.. Too bad.

About the maritime museum im afraid we already passed it.. A pity because it sounds great!

So now we are here in a motel right by the lake. Will try to get going to Duluth early tomorrow...

6-7 hours across there is a good day run and the weather is looking pretty good! Might bit warm, but dry for the most part.

Glad you enjoyed Kitch-iti-kipi my wife and I have the same reaction at the springs. After Duluth consider heading to the Black Hills in South Dakota and plan on staying a couple of days. Much to do there and great motorcycle riding. Custer State Park is a must as well as Needles Highway along with the pigtail bridges on 16A, Deadwood where you can go to a real old west saloon, Mt Rushmore, Spearfish Canyon, Wind Cave and Crazy Horse monument are nearby. And not too far away is Devil's Tower with a prairie dog town right at the entrance. My wife and I traveled through the UP through Wisconsin then Minnesota to Rapid City, SD and found the ride very pleasant. No Interstates at all.

If you go to the Black Hills area try to determine when you might get there. Its tourist season in that part of the country and rooms can get scarce so it pays to plan ahead a little and make a reservation.

Roger that!

So after early morning music practise, and spending a little meditative time on the motels private beach we are about to get going to Duluth... A couple of harley riders show interest in our old bike, and are counfused by my accent..,"what are you french canadian or what...?"

We find vegetarian pasties on the way, ordered 4, but as they are huge we still have three of them in the saddlebag....

As a veggy, I had worries about food when I first went over, but alhough the USA smells of cooked meat :) I found it wasn't too much of a problem.

Good tip! Might come in handy!

So... Yesterday stopping for coffee we got a tip from some local dirt bike riders we should see the Agate falls... That was beautiful! No people around, and we could just swim around and have the falls to ourselves... Memories for life...

Then we just kept going until I was so tired I just pulled over and fell a sleep on a lawn outside a gas station... Dont know how long I slept but I woke up and went inside "bingo's" to get coffee. What characters inside! Owner, his friend and the furniture didnt seem to have moved since the 50's!

It was difficult to book a hotel, but in the end we found a beach resort in a place called Herbster, Wisconsin... Its a quite beautiful ride there. Animals too... Something that looks like a wild turkey crosses the road just a few meters in front of us! Then also the deers decides to cross every once on while, but not that close though... Need to stay super focused while riding.

Still we made it in one piece to the resort right on Lake Superior. We came right in time for the sunset and agree that if we did try to plan it all, it would not probably turn out as great!

Im happy to see Amanda enjoying the trip so much.. I had a worry that it might just become boring to sit in the back for hours on end, but she seems to enjoy the road too.. And just for fun we started playing with the idea to do the southern route soon!

Yea you need to be careful with deer. Just remember very often it is not the one you see crossing the road that gets you, it is the one just inside the woods that is following that one. This time of the year the babies are still with the Mom's so very often they will travel in groups of 3.

I got 2 with my 2007 Kia. One in the AM and one at night. 2nd the insurance co totalled my car rather than fix it. They jump right into you so you never see them coming.
