Notice I don't try to commute on the Norton but the only Lucas it has left is the headlight and taillight.

Like Sunnbobb it cracks me up to see this thread still going....it's funny though, I never had any real problems on my Brit bikes with the Lucas lights, but lots on the cars; I guess because the cars were pretty old and the bikes new when I bought them....

I'd like to start fixing yellow but it was around 115 in the garage yesterday so I passed on that.

This is the real summer period in the Bay Area. Usually the rest of the year is mild with a bit of rain in the winter. By the time I get out to my bike to go to work it is T shirt weather. Very few folks in our older houses around here have AC so it is kind of like a cold snap in New Orleans.

So tonight I tried the old trick I heard of from boats and I see Randak has tried something like that too. I did it my dad's way by making a block with a handle to cover and seal the intake. I winged it up to over three grand and choked it out three times, the last time I thought I'd killed it by blowing a seal or something as she wouldn't restart. It really helps if you turn the petcock on before you do this. Note to self, turn on petcock first to save changing pants.
Number three seems to be getting warm now, the question will be is she clear enough. I feel the intake manifold because I'm not brave like WF and only as it warms up from cold. I'll try to sync it tomorrow as I'm off to get wifeling from BART.

Even more difficult to diagnosis a pet cock when you have not traveled exactly 0.4 miles

So it looks like the jet is cleared. Idle is much better and vacuum is nearly right on through the range. Number four is a hair higher than the others so I think I won't put it together tonight but try to get the sync a little tighter first. I'd like to drive it to work tomorrow but no sense staying up late when I can hop on something else.

This is the highly sophisticated vacuum builder. I have the plugged jet much better I think but it still may be partially plugged. After balancing the bike is very ridable, she just has a small burble at idle. I opened up the fuel mixture another half turn to try to help the transition. It seems better but the roads I was riding it on are rough enough so it is hard to tell, on the smooth road to work tomorrow it will show better.

What grade hardwood is that? Shouldn't the red inspection dot face forward? Does the 4 ply have high moisture content to better seal with the plenum? What type of actuator is used to modulate the fixture? Inquiring minds need to know.

On the other hand, OSHA will be pleased to see that thing has a handrail.

OK, that one got me action1
By the way, Redwood fence I took down last year, only the bottom was rotten so it gets used for lots of things, and part of the leftover from my porch handrail.
