Beautiful day in the neighborhood, mid 70's and only a slight breeze. After some saddle time I decided to wet sand and clear coat the shelter halves. Results look good for a amateur body person. It was then I realized I had forgotten about the fuel and tool tray doors. Since the color is just a little off that would be very noticeable. A quick sanding and color coat was in order. Now we wait again.

Not much happening over the past couple of days. Backtracked a little to address that crease in the fuel door. It will be ready for clear coat on the next nice day. I think that almost everything else is ready for inspection and plates. Anxious to see it all together. I have many to thank for parts and encouragement on this project.

Still a little tender to the touch. Tried riding a couple of times and after about an hour it starts getting sore. The wound has healed over and looks like a callus and the swelling is gone. Haven't stopped doing things, just slowed down a bit being careful not to apply much pressure around the wound. Should be back to full use in a couple of weeks.

Assembled the shelter pieces today only to find out the rubber H-channel that goes between the halves is missing. Can't remember if they were there or not when I took it apart. Guess its off to the hardware store tomorrow to find something to put in there. I did find a small piece in another shelter so I have a sample to take along. Had hoped to do a test fit today but it is raining with a little sleet.

Went out amongst the people today in search of some H-channel. Tried three different places and couldn't find anything that matched or even came close. The guys at Lowes were being very helpful but they were unable to come up with anything. Before leaving the store I thought of using some flat two conductor wire. I bought a piece and cut a slit down each side and removed the copper. Not quite what I was looking for but it will do for now.

Today was a big day in the life of this project. Got to see it all in one piece for the first time. Still a few tweaks and unexpected items to look into but for the most part I'm fairly pleased. Look closely and see some frankenbike hurdles I worked out especially deleting the fairing. The color mismatch is very noticeable in the sun but I think painting the side covers would bring that closer together. Rear brake needs more attention and the fuel gauge is not reading properly. This is very much a warmer weather bike as my 43 degrees test ride today was pretty chilly. It should easily pass the state inspection as it sits.

A couple of new developments today but first the good news. State inspection, taxes and plates are done. All at a cost of a little over $100. Found a very small seepage around the viewing glass on the front master cylinder. Not enough for concern but a small drip flew back onto my fresh paint. New master to be ordered soon. Cleaned and rubbed with some Meguiar's cleaning wax and the damage is light but there. Stopped to fill the tank and later noticed the smell of gas every time I stopped. Found some seepage from where the rear mount is welded to the tank. Cleaned the area and applied some sealing putty that is designed for leaks like this. Might spray it with some flexseal before refilling the tank. If that don't work there is a new tank in my near future.

New front master installed today. One problem solved. Fuel leak is slowed down but not yet stopped. Worked on it some more today but I'm skeptical.

Oh, man, that's tough news about the fuel tank. And right after you get her inspected, plated, and road legal.

She is looking nice.

Fuel tank leaks are a pita, since even a small drip that evaporates before hitting the ground still smells things up. Hope you find a solid solution for a very solid ride. Love the progress.

Haven't checked on the leak in a couple of days. I found a local part out listing and need to contact them to see if the tank is available and how much. Not looking forward to tearing down the whole back end to change out the tank.

Seller wanted to sell me the frame with the tank still in it and whatever was left for one price. Made him an offer for just the tank and I would pull it and he quit talking to me. Guess I insulted him. Checked on my attempt to seal the leak and it still leaks a bit when I apply air pressure to the tank. Maybe applying more pressure than necessary caused the bubbles but I'm still hoping I can get the seal to hold.
