Reviving 76 LTD
I'm gotta keep the gas for the snowblower . The carbs were re-built by an accredited Honda mechanic, which I found out yesterday from the previous owner, the tech works for the local dealer....I confirmed that fact !
Started and let it run till warm ! Oil is draining as I'm typing this, will be changing the filter( last one I got) It's now lunch time and I will be heading out for a couple more oil filters since I am following "Randakk" procedure but, I'm a little wery about not having changed the timing belts , they have not arrived yet....so I'm not going to go any further than filling with 50/50
30 weight and ATF , I'll do the 20 minute run after I change them belts !!
I do have a big grin on my face....lol
Thanks again for the welcoming replies ! I'll post pics later!
Frank.

It's a great sound, that first start. Now, change the belts. Really. Change them! Oh, and check the tire age. Don't ride on tires old enough to vote!

Re: Reviving 76 LTD
having had a tire that had a crack all the way around, they do not have to be voting age! And, did we mention CHANGE THE BELTS.... you do not want to do an engine rebuild

Re: Reviving 76 LTD
Well, finally had time for a little more work on the wing. Timing belts !! Man oh man....I've never seen so much rust ...when I removed the covers. Shyte anyways..lol. The pulley tensioning springs are a solid piece of rust , broke one when I tried to remove it( after I sprayed them both with Wurth rost off plus) Mind you I need to spray everything and brush off the rust.
Now where would I find a couple of new springs?? It's getting cold over here..lol. Kinda white all over.
No heat in the super shed, it's not insulated anyways. I should take some pics but , my fingers were frozen and numb.
Gotta find some springs, supposed to be 37F this Saturday, that would be a good time for more work

Here's a link to an OEM parts breakdown. Yes, those timing belt tensioner springs are still available.Francis wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 11:40 am Well, finally had time for a little more work on the wing. Timing belts !! Re: Reviving 76 LTD
mine was fairly low mileage as well, and right after I got it I had the u-joint go out. Honda beefed up the u-joint on the later wings, but the early ones had a lot of failures
