Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
These do have a couple threaded holes on a raised boss, but not quit perfect to the OE hangers off the pegs. I'll sort out some kind if simple bracket.
Nice look on yours.

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
Found a metric brakeline nut with the correct 14×1.5 thread for the front turnsignal stalk. I drilled and tapped to the 10x1.25 thread for the aluminum Emgo turnsignal mounts. Stretched a fat O ring over the hex to dress it up. Pretty happy with the results.
I like these blinkers and had used them in the past on a 900F. Nice polished aluminum and duel element for running lights.

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
Running lights work fine, but no turnsignals. The back had worked prior, but not now too.Could just be the nearly dead jump box I'm using.
Currently I have 3 wires. Black/Red/Black with white strip.
I think...
Red is turn
Black is running light
Black with white is ground.
For the rear
Red is turn
Black with white is ground.
Not using black
Anyone familiar with Emgo color schematic that can correct me?

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
Rather than guessing what EMGO wire colors are, put it to a meter and be certain. Make the ohms reading go "beepy-beepy" and it's real simple.

The jump box/battery has to be charged to run the signals and the horn.

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
I would have assumed, but black is the one not used in the back, and they worked good when I installed them.

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
I did that when I installed the rears last fall. I was sure the white stripe was ground.
Then the red was the brighter element and black was the dimmer.
I could be wrong, but could be the low battery too.
Odd emgo doesn't say, but I was hoping others used them and could verify.

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
I put some LED's on my M3W and you are right the colors were different. one easy way to check is to start with the white strip on the neg terminal of your battery and then touch one and then the other to the positive. IF white strip is ground then the other two wires will light the lights. if not, then put the black to ground and repeat... I really doubt red would be ground.

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
Great news, low voltage was the problem. Purchased a battery and with full voltage everything works as it should.
So, in this case anyway, these Emgo lights are...
Black with white is Ground
Red is Turn
Black is Running lights.

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
Started it briefly last week. I just filled the bowls and it fired right up. However sounded like timing was off. I did readjust the timing belt tension since I set the timing so I redid the point gap and timing today.
Unfortunately I think I toasted the starter and the brand new battery today. I will ask about that in the tech forum.

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
It has been awhile since last update sorry.
I was having trouble with carburetors and kept chasing my tail. I finally took them to someone for help and found that one had a crack in the aluminum body letting fuel drip past the needle.
I found another set of used 78 carburetors and started over on them.
It has been timed and balanced but I do still get a little popping out the exhaust. I will keep playing with timing. I don't think it is fuel because it did this with other carbs, AND leaked fuel. One issue fixed I guess.
It is now off the table and I did get a quick ride up the road and back .

Re: Big Red, the "Parts Bike"
I sent the body panels to a brother for a "better" Clearcoat over my work waiting on those to come back and very eager to see it all together.
I did redo the seat. (Only last pick) I trimmed the pan more and took out some weird bends. I also added a thin membrane over the foam.
The exhaust is also now complete and supported in the rear. I am very happy with the low growl of the HD mufflers.
Really just need to sort out the popping out the exhaust. (Also the right and left side sound differently to me??
Get the panels back
And I would love a cleaner set of tri gauges. But that's nit picking. Lol
So for now, she's parked back in the corner...
