New to me -1200 Aspencade.

#1

Post by geoffr »

Bought this 1986 Aspencade G earlier this month. Has only covered 15000 miles and is immaculate.
Started its life being imported into Japan , then bought by a guy in Scotland who sold it on. He took a job in Western Australia and took it with him. He then brought it back to Scotland and I bought it from him.]FB_IMG_1657053620031.jpg[/img]

Can't speak for the Aspencade, but I had a Standard 1200 for years. Put it in a ditch once, and it was STILL the best bike I've ever owned. The rule of thumb is that the Goldwings got better as they went on, and I believe it.

She looks mighty clean!
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1980 KZ1300- Bike's Haunted
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.

it is identical to our 1200, which has 361,000 km and crossing its fingers, has never had any problems. obviously we have always done careful maintenance.
P.S This motorcycle has traveled half the world without wearing out the tires :8)

What a nice find, she is practically new and looks it too. What a beauty. That bike will last you forever. Liked the “This motorcycle has traveled half the world without wearing out the tires.”

Don't believe that that is an '86 Aspencade, in '86 the two colors were a blue and a 'rose' color. Look on the steering stem and the VIN will provide the year. Somewhere I'd found the colors by year, can't find it now. Nice looking relative to mine....

Have checked vin plate and definitely an 86. Color was different in different countries.
