I'd say you picked up a very nice project. I'm kind of a sucker for spokes, but the Henry Abe wheels are pretty cool...

I picked up a ‘80 GL1100 parts bike today. No title so I’m going to use what I can (although I do understand there is not a lot of parts that will interchange) and part out the rest.

That looks like a nice score! The headlight ears and bucket, rear fender, taillight mount and turn signals for the '80-83 Standard are getting hard to come by. The carbs usually fetch a decent price as well, especially if they're in fair condition.

I was going to say the headlight and ears look to be in great shape!

If the headlight bucket and speedo chrome cover are in solid shape, I might be interested in buying them off you if you want to sell, so long as they are compatible w/ my '77...

After one hour cleaning, two hours masking and 30 minutes painting my wheels are painted.

I’ve got the motor all cleaned up and painted. I talked to the sand blaster. He said he could blast the frame and related components this weekend. One I get it painted it will be boing back together.

You should do a hydraulic clutch conversion while the motor is out. ;) And a new neutral switch, along with the pickup screen hardware change.

I’m doing all the necessary upgrades I can come up with while the engine is out. I actually got a new neutral switch in the mail today and I’m on the process of replacing the timing belt idlers with Gates T42015. I’ll probably leave the clutch as it is since this build has a budget. At least the PO had recently replaced the clutch. Please explain the pickup screen hardware change.

Check your service manual, but you replace the front screw with one that's shorter, so it can be removed with the engine in frame.

I recently replaced mine and can say it's likely better to use hex head screws vs allens, even the button head, as getting purchase with a wobble allen head can prove troublesome.
