Nice and clean. Finish off with Scotchbrite and isopropyl, ,tape it and paint. I'm partial with brushed paint but thinking you want to go back original color, spray is best for silver.

Good bit of work. Following as I will be doing mine soon. Brought the paint and engine rebuild project for my '85 Limited Edition forward to this year, can't do a lot of touring so might as well get it spruced up.

In the middle of rebuilding mine. I put the 1200 chain guide and tensioner and the Cain seems too tight. Should I stick with the original guide and just use the 1200 tensioner?

Yes, the 1200 slide part is thicker and not suitable. To be honest I'm kind of surprised that you manage to get the assembly together at all with that in place.
