If I put one of my freshly painted parts beside them there is a big difference.

I am going to try a slightly different colour. The paint I have tried is Aluminium, and there is a Silver Aluminium available, so I have a couple of cans of that on order.

LOL, I ask because when I did my LTD the pump looked fine. No play in the bearing. So went with it. the whole time holding my breath. And yeah, it leaked badly. So I ended up changing it in the frame. So that will be the last time I don't change one. ;) lolol

On the yellow I did recently I put in a new water pump. I had a leak from the oil side which meant it all had to come back out again.
So all new gaskets and orings again and second time round no leak. Learned my lesson. No short cuts, do it once, do it right.

I have a couple of the metal type water pumps and I have a couple of new water seals, I had thought of refurbishing one, but now I don't know.

I forgot to mention as well, Robin, the front fender and the headlight ears and indicators are units I bought from you a few years ago.
You sent me a set of front engine bolts that time too. They will be going onto this engine.

This is the paint gun I bought. Its not a cheap unit, but gets good reviews.
It cost £340.00 which is about $415. If nothing else, its a pretty colour.
I always say that possession of a guitar does not make one a musician, but I am going to give this a good go.
I have quite a few bits I would like to paint, and now that I have figured out where to get the paint, then the learning can begin.

This will be my first painting job with this new gun whenever I get it.
LTD engine block looks a bit sad looking. Paintwork is non existent in areas.

The engine has been split, the reasons why are are contained in a whole other story on here somewhere.
The offending bits have been replaced, and the whole lot is mechanically ready to go back together for some time.
I have also fitted a primary chain tensioner from a GL1200 while it is apart.

Now comes my quandry.

I am torn between 2 options.
a: Assemble the entire engine and paint it then.
b: Break it down further and paint the individual parts seperately.

Much less masking required if you assemble first. Pad the floor with several layers of cardboard and roll the engine around for prep and paint if you don't have a hoist. Mount a pair of beater valve covers.
