I drilled the mirror stub out.
Lost some thread near the top, but my mirror snugs down nicely.
Still don't know what the little rubber thingy is.(2 pics previous)

When you remount the reservoir, it will probably seem impossibly tight. Lube the o-ring with some good silicone grease and apply firm even pressure - it will go. The plate and screws will help with final seating.

Re: Waking Donna; a '75 GL1000
I am puzzled by this threaded hole on the top of the rear caliper on my 75 gl1000.
I'm running out of parts and I don't seem to have whatever goes here.
Near as I can tell, by blowing it with compressed air, that it doesn't lead into the juicy stuff.
What's it's purpose?

Re: Waking Donna; a '75 GL1000
Yeah, those brakes aren’t going to work like that at all until you get another bleeder screw in there and bleed your entire system. You can find them at any hardware automotive store but be sure to get the right threading (metric). But a bike shop would be a surer bet for t right one.

Re: Waking Donna; a '75 GL1000
Naw, that particular hole doesn't seem to do anything. I just checked my '76, and it has the same hole, in the same location, doing the same thing (not much).
The bleed screw is on that same side, a bit farther forward.
Best guess? It's some kind of machining passage used during manufacturing, and blocked off later. I wouldn't worry about it.

Isn't there a "fender" that bolts on there? To help keep rain from spraying up off of the rotor. About 2 or 3 inches long as I recall.
