That's why they make torque wrenches. And also one reason the bolt kit comes with instructions and advice. ;)

Finally had a chance to paint the engine today. Glad I did; made a huge improvement. I tried my hand at shining up a belt cover with some 600/800 wet sand by hand. I'm still not set up for polishing. Here's some pics:

I just use my drill press in its highest speed with some Harbor Freight wheels. Felt seems to go the fastest, but really stinks if you overheat it.

Thanks for the tip. I've decided to only wet sand the covers for now. I'll come back to polishing after I know she runs.

I managed to install a "new" clutch lifter plate without breaking it this time. The manual says tighten in "small increments". I must have been turning 1\128ths at the end there. I sure didn't want to snap another plate. What a relief it was to get them all torqued.

I do have a question about the location of the oil tube clip. I've searched my photos and can't get a good look at it and the parts fiche ain't much help to me.

Onto which bolt is the clip installed?

Some pics:

I still have to buy a water pump. Then the engine can get back into it's frame.

And to all who take the time to answer all my good questions and none of my bad ones, thanks. :-D
