Hi,
In 1980 I fitted a set of Krauser panniers to my K2, I loved them at the time so I decided I wanted to fit a set to my current K2.
I spent a lot of time trying to find a set that was made specifically for the GL1000 but couldnt find any, the BMW ones are a close match but again couldn't find any in decent shape and neither could I find the mounting racks in good shape.
So I decided to buy some new ones that are meant for the old R series BMW and make the mounting racks myself. The set I bought are here, expensive but what the hell - https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop ... 5_20_VA_20
I thought I would have a go at 3D printing the mounting racks as a while ago I designed and made myself a very large 3D printer.
I used a laser level to take as many measurements as I could, made some test pieces then finally designed and printed the racks.
It took a while but I am pleased with the results, I tried to get the line of the seat across the top of the panniers and the rear edge of the side panels -
The frame is reinforced with an aluminium strip and I made some stays out of 3mm plate aluminium that picks up the mounting points for the rear light cluster, its absolutely solid -
I printed some spacers to allow the stays to fit securely against the rear mudguard -

Re: Krauser Panniers
More pictures, the photos make the panniers look bigger than they are, proportionally they look just right
I replaced the BMW badges with CL160 tank emblems

More -
Just a little wider than the crash bars so ok for filtering through traffic
To get the alignment I wanted I had to move the mounting catch to the top of the recess as where it was originally it fouled the indicators, covered over the original drilled holes with some small reflectors
The frame was printed in two sections, this is the left front section underway on my printer
