Ok so here's where I'm at currently with the bike, waiting for springs and seals to arrive, went ahead and bought tires since I'm going to have wheels off so they'll be here in a week or so.

Hanging the front with a heavy duty ratchet strap, bracket lag bolted on the joist. Set a heavy duty rolling cart under the engine taking pressure off the strap.
Front tire is off, the brakes were sticking (planning on rebuilding them) so the calipers wouldn't come off of the rotors. Had to use a strategically placed screw driver to open them up enough remove them and not do damage to the rotors.

So, I got the forks mostly disassembled but I have a detour project I have to complete first.
My main mode of transportation (2014 F150) had the electronic steering (EPAS) go out (dealership wanted 2100$ to fix it, part is 600$) so I'll be switching to that as soon as the part comes in. Hoping to get the front forks back together on the bike before I tackle the truck.
In the meantime I'll be getting a sweet arm workout everywhere I go since I don't have power steering

Well I got one leg of the forks back on and borked the other side so I'm waiting for the replacement bushing on that side. Other project was rebuilding the rear shocks with new progressive springs.
Let me just say that even if using the shop vac to suck gas was dangerous this felt way more sketchy to me. In fact I would not do it again if given the opportunity. I'll spend the money to get something to bolt in place or use the right tool for the job. But either way got them both together with the new springs and seals without incident.
Got the new shinkos mounted and ready to be reinstalled.
Looking at my rotors now and they have a pretty good groove to them, possibly from the sticking brake calipers. Both the front and back have a similar issue.
While I got the tires off would it be worth putting new ones on? I was hoping to find a good used set unless there is a recommended new replacement. Also starting to think about the brake lines, calipers and brake master cylinder needing rebuilt. Any recommendations on where to buy these would be appreciated.

For brake rebuild parts, I usually buy from Georgefix on eBay. Good prices, fast shipping, and he knows the differences between years. If you're going with ss brake lines, Apex comes highly recommended. Off you want cheaper OEM style rubber lines, siriusconinc.com/index.php may have them...
FWIW, I've done several pairs of rear shocks using a similar set-up as yours... Works like a charm!

Your setup looks a little sturdier, I was only using 5/16ths all thread. That might have been part of my problem
