A couple more pics from yesterday. Today ended up being a work around the house day, so not much in the way of progress to report. Gotta keep the Lady of the house happy, too!

Made some significant progress today! Carbs and cables are on, fuel tank is in (with only one minor scuff!) as well as the battery box, and most of the electrical has been gone through and reconnected. It's much more fun when I can see big changes, lol!

Rolling on her own two wheels!

Had a bit of an issue; went to install the final drive only to find the o-ring that seals the joint between the final drive and swingarm was totally mucked up. Looked it up on Partzilla - NLA. Great. Googled the PN - nothing available. Noted the size from the parts list and went in search of something local. Still no luck.
Took a break for lunch and googled some more, and ran across a thread on goldwing.docs concerning said o-ring, and found that the parts listing size was incorrect, and the correct dimensions. Finally found one at the local 'everything you never thought you'd need' hardware/ rental/ farm supply/ implement/ tire store, and on went the final drive!

You're right... didn't have the info in front of me. The wrong Honda PN is 91354-463-003 and is listed as 60.5 x 2.4 mm. The actual size should be 47 x 2.5 mm. The 'standard' part number for the o-ring I found locally is 2-134, and measures 1 7/8 ID x 3/32 CS. It is slightly thicker than the original, so it's a tighter fit, but seems to work. YMMV.

Any clue where this stuff goes? lolol lolol lolol
Just about everything small that's left to install has been scrubbed, rubbed, washed, or waxed... For the most part, I've done pretty well at keeping track of all the little bits on this build. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself

Yep! The bike is a Standard with a dealer installed fairing. It must have been a 'kit' which included everything to make the conversion. Rather than lose the Standard horns, they just tapped into the wires and ran both sets. I don't know how loud they are, as I've never tried them, lol!

Today I hope to finish installing and bleeding the brakes, doing a proper alignment and torque check of the front suspension, and installing the coils and wires. When I installed the throttle cables, I noticed that the pull cable has a kink right near the end that kind of hangs up on return, so I decided to replace all the cables while I still have easy access. They are all supposed to arrive by Friday.

Gradually running out of parts! Finished installing and bleeding the brakes, coils and plug wires are on, and, as much as I didn't want to, installed the fairing mounting bracket and assorted hardware.
About all that's left is the radiator, battery and their related bits before I move on to the plastics!
I started polishing the rocker and timing belt covers, but I'm not very pleased with how they look. I've been using Harbor Freight compounds and buffing wheels and they don't seem very consistent, so I splurged on a polishing kit from Caswell.com. We'll see if having the right compounds makes a difference.

All the shiny bits...
It's not much of an exaggeration to say that I've touched every nut and bolt on this machine other than the engine internals and the components of the main fairing. All that remains of the 'mechanical' portion of the project is installing the fuel lines, rear shock air lines, and the exhaust. Oh, and the clutch cable. For some reason I didn't read the 'applications' chart correctly when I ordered the replacement, and I never would have guessed that '80-81 clutch cables are six or eight inches longer than the '82-83's.   I'm still waiting on the correct one, as well as polishing supplies so I can finish up the rocker and timing belt covers. Hopefully the rain will be sporadic enough this week and I'll be able to fire the Lady up!
