Thanks... I can get obsessed sometimes, so I have to tell myself when to call it done! lolol lolol lolol
Tomorrow's weather should be nice, so it's final carb cleaning day. I'll have to squeeze in mowing the lawn and possibly taking a good ride, because Monday's weather looks pretty crappy.

My super low-tech carb cleaning station. It also serves as a polishing station, parts painting station, and tool bench, lol! Just about sundown, so time to pack it in for the day. Most of the big stuff is cleaned up and ready to go, and I'll go through the jets and small parts as I assemble the carbs tomorrow. That will most likely happen in my basement, as the forecast calls for rain for most of the week. Didn't get Grumpy out for a ride, but at least the lawn looks halfway decent (for a day or two).
I splurged and ordered all the brake kits and a few other parts. Nearly $500.00 in two days. I don't know if I'm happy or sad! lolol lolol lolol

Finally some time to put things back together! I started the morning cleaning all the small bits, which took a lot longer than I anticipated. I found two float needles had stuck plungers, one bad fuel screen, and a number of bowl and cap screws that were in pretty sad shape, so I ended up digging through my assortment of 'extra' carbs for replacements. I got through two carbs before calling it a day, suffering from a bad case of the 'dropsies.' Chasing small screws and tiny o-rings around the bench and floor isn't much fun after several hours of detail work.

I can hear those carbs calling me this morning, lol! Problem is, so is the open road!

I guess it's carb time, as there's suddenly some hunnydo's on the slate for the day. I might get to slip in a few miles later...

Forgot to mention I had a heck of a time getting the glued - on limiting caps off the idle needles. I finally got out the old Weller soldering gun and heated the cap, then pulled it off with a pliers. As is typical for my projects, the last one was especially stubborn...

My parts orders are rolling in; I have everything to do the brake system except lines. I am a bit unhappy with Partzilla.com, though. It seems one item is 'delayed,' and they took three days to notify me. The problem is, they don't ship any of the order unless you specifically contact them and request it, which delays their already slow shipping even further... GRRRR!

The floats are set and a bench sync done. I'll do a slide check with the shop vac and probably bench check for leaks right before installation, which will hopefully happen in a couple of weeks. Next up is the brakes!

Thank you. That means a lot! I'd be happy to do others' carbs, but to be competitive with the true experts here on the forum, I'd be making about 3 cents an hour, lol! (Yes, I'm VERY slow...)

Received my Partzilla order today! Whoop whoop! I'm still waiting for two fork bushings (which Partzilla didn't have), but I have more than enough stuff to keep me busy for a few weeks. Now if I could just get some non-50 hour workweeks...

Well, I'm committed now (or maybe should be, lol). Started stripping the paint from the brake components. They didn't really need to be painted, but I know they'd bug me later if I didn't do them up. I'm certain I won't get them painted today, and the forecast doesn't look conductive to painting tomorrow, but they'll be ready to go, at least.

I have to say those carbs look absolutely fantastic. I am looking forward to seeing how the master cylinders turn out. 1100 rears are a swine, the castings were made from chocolate and fell apart from corrosion. An oddball cylinder too only used on the GL1100.
Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the encouragement, Liam. The bike has had just enough exercise and attention to keep everything working, sort of. The rubber boot seals on the calipers and rear master cylinder just seem to hold in the moisture and after so long everything becomes corroded. I plan on switching to DOT 5 brake fluid, which should help.
