This will be a fun project! I was able to screw 2 doubled 2x4s to a cheap furniture dolly, ratchet strap the engine to that, take wheels, forks, tank, swing arm, carbs, electrical, shelter frame all down to just the frame and engine setting on the dolly. Then, with all unbolted and the wife on one end, we lifted the frame off the engine. Went back in reverse order (for me, after 5 years). BTW, if you decide to part with the original seat, I am interested!

pidjones is right, taking the frame off the engine is easier than taking the engine out of the frame

Hey pidjones and rcmatt thanx for the heads up on removing the frame from the engine rather than the other way around. Princess Auto up here sells similar dollies for not much money, will buy one. Sorry but not parting with the oem seat, it is being kept for show and tell days!

I have made a dolly out of 1x4's and caster wheels. Don't know if it was cost effective, but it works and is not hard. Once again. take a tie down strap and then secure the engine to the dolly so it does not fall off when you move it around. I usually start off with the engine on a motorcycle lift and then line up the height to the dolly and (with a helper) a 1-2-3 lift and move

Have made some unprogress the last couple of days! Fuel tank, carbs etc. out. Tomorrow going to flush the fuel tank with some fresh fuel and put in a vinegar solution with a bunch of shingling nails to help scarify the interior. My buddy used this process with good success. Carbs will be looked at as they seem seized had a lot of trouble getting them out as the throttle shaft? seemed frozen in place and it was hard to get the cables off.

Not sure but am thinking that these carbs are among the worst I could have imagined. Thanx to my buddy Ian and an ultra sound machine have them looking pretty nicely cleaned up. Should have taken a pic before they were buttoned up but was way too engrossed. Will try to take more pics of work in progress from now on. BTW the best solution in the ultra sound we found was ZEP degreaser/Cleaner. It seemed to be effective but did not do any harm to parts being cleaned. Next step new timing belts then a trial firing.

Yep all jets were pulled and cleaned down to the smallest (glad none were dropped) and screens. Almost didn't do those but discovered the one on the last carb was plugged so back in and did them all.

desertrefugee just to clarify my last post a bit I assumed the idle jets were the ones under the rubber plug. These are so small an escapee would have been hard to track down as were the air jets under the kidney shaped cover. Hard work for two old blind guys!
