78 GL1000 rebuild

#1

Post by oldguy64 »

Hello everyone,
I am a new member and a new Goldwing owner. I have had and have several other bikes but have always wanted a "Wing".
I recently purchased a 78 that had been totally dismantled in 2006 for a resto. The owner then lost interest and I now own it. It is a bare frame and many boxes of parts. I have been sorting to determine if I have all of the parts and have found a bracket that I cannot determine where it goes. I am hoping one of you experts out there can help me. I am including a photo of the bracket. I am starting to think it maybe doesn't belong to this bike.
Thank you in advance,

Thank you very much Cyborg. I am to assume there should be a right side hanger as well which I don't have...

yes there is a right. you can tell that one is for the left as the side stand lever hits up against rubber thingy. the muffler brackets for the 78-9's are the same, but different from the 75-77. You would only use that bracket for OEM mufflers
