in polishing you need to go with finer and finer polish media. If you are using the same bonnet there still will be coarse materiel. Also, how mush pressure you apply makes a difference

my sanding wheels only goes to 320. The only 1200 paper i can find is wet/dry paper. looking for 2000 or 2000 paper too. Making sanding a painful process. i have a buffing wheel from Eastwood but cant get the rim on that. looking for other drill attachments for polishing. cant grasp the correct wheel and polish stick. i will reread the section on polishing. big diff between ready about a doing. thanks

Take it in stages down to 1000 wet and when you get it even at that point go get a Mothers cone shaped power ball available at Walmart. Use a good grade of liquid polishing compound (very fine) on the cone and begin to work it around all your corners and crevices with the drill mounted cone. Wipe clean and you will have a mirror like finish depending on how well you did with the sandpaper.

2000 at most auto parts stores and Walmart. Up to 7000 grit on Amazon. Soak the paper overnight before using and keep it wet with water and a drop of dish washing liquid. Use a block on flat areas.

Toothpaste also makes a good substitute for polishing compound.

Makes is flexible so it will conform to curves. Keep it wet to keep the paper cutting by keeping the grit matrix open.
