1977 GL1000 Project
I am almost done refreshing a 1977 GL1000. Here are some of the things I did:
Rebuilt carbs, lapped valves, new dyna coils & electronic ignition, electronic fuel pump, new clutch parts, new tires, new belts, rebuilt the idler pulleys, rebuilt all brake components, new rear spokes, new water pump, restored gauges, forks and fixed all the common stuff that happens with these bikes. The seat is not correct but maybe I will get a 1977 version later. I collected the best body parts off of a few 1977 GL1000 and used them on this bike. It takes a lot of time to disassemble, clean, polish, fix, restore and reassemble these old bikes, but I get a lot of satisfaction each time I do one.

She is looking real nice
I feel that you have more respect for your machine if you take the time to do things the best you can regardless of time it takes.
I have been messing with my machines for over four years now, it will be heartbreaking when it is time to find new owners for them, but I have to as I have too many toys and the expense in keeping them on the road.

Re: 1977 GL1000 Project
I also have a 1975 GL1000 Antares Red with about 17,000 miles on it and it looks really good too. I refreshed it a couple of years ago and it runs great. I would be willing to sell both of them as I can restore another one later. I do this as a hobby. The 1977 model has about 31,000 miles on the speedometer. Here are a couple of pictures of the 1975 GL1000:
I am going to now show you a picture of my favorite. Mike Learn painted this one and Cycle-X rebuilt the engine. I did the rest of the work. 1972 CB750 K1
