Where did you find the front fender? I am looking for one in good shape. Mine is a little too rusty for me, beyond hope unless I get it re-chromed.

actually it is a 79 fender that i put it on to complete the bike but keeping any eye for a 75-77 fender. most sellers advertise fender for GL10000 195-79 whereas 75-77 are different than 78-79 and this is how i ended up buying it. Discovered it was wrong but too late and expensive to ship it back. Just like seats, have 2 seats off a 78-79 which were sold to me as 77.

Weather is getting better and wrenching itch is back. In addition to this Ltd, I had gotten into several more projects,
1978 GL1000
1979 GL1000
1975 GL1000
1975 CB550F
in order, they were secured, now a bit overwhelming situation to step into garage Will create separate threads for each project as soon as i get started with. So far have taken fairings, 70s extras and accessories off all bikes, gave them somewhat bath and they are sitting all over the place.

In order to complete my Ltd, I am still in need of complete carbs off ltd or a 76, a seat and rear footpegs chrome discs (that sits on the peg itself with machined screw) if anyone has any of these items, please PM me.
Cheers,

So weather is good now, pulled her out, removed all spark plugs, cleaned, checked caps for ohms, put plugs back, seafoam and gas mixture was sitting in carbs for some time now, drained, filled fresh gas (still using IV/ aux gas tank) fired up on all four cylinders but does not idle well.

think will have to drop carbs and send them for rebuilding. Was avoiding so far with the hope of coming across 76 std carbs (set i got, sent it for rebuilding and guy called back saying they were beyond salvage state, so stuck with 1100 carbs on my Ltd for now).

Got one correct front fender and is now on bike, makes a difference in appearance. Also sourced a rear fender though it has correct rear fender on but has some noticeable pitting which i would like to get rid of.

Fuel gauge was showing FULL tank whereas i had a tiny bit gas in, removed, cleaned and put back connectors, resolved. Tachometer is still lazy responding, cleaned it with WD40, replaced tach cable, noticeable difference buy still slow, hopefully will come up to pace (had same issue with a CB and couple of rides, resolved it).

Starter motor was making noise, removed and opened it up to find it needed serious cleaning and rebuilding, got it done, what a difference.

Still in the market for a stock seat and bank of carbs

Thought would update

it always amazes me how ebay will say X-part fits 75-79 GL1000.... when you get to know the differences they are huge

The seat you need is the stock seat for a 77, correct? There is a very nice, looks like never used one on Facebook in the Honda Goldwing buy, sell, trade group. Kinda steep-$400.

After having done few CBs and a Dream, I am back now with some time in hand to complete my this Ltd and another one I bought as a parts bike but after a wash and little cleaning, it is just too good to have as a donner bike, so one more Ltd gets saved.

Got my hands on a seat, toolkit, manual and 763A carbs which are being rebuilt by PP as I write this post, so at least one bike will be complete minus key fob.

Will start updating my thread with info and photos. Once get on to the second ltd, will start a new thread.
Cheers

LTD front fdender was slightly different to the other, a bit more flared I believe (not actually seen any side by side to compare).
Also, much more important, not seen any mention of the belts being changed.

re the front mudguard/fender.
i have seen this commented on before, that is, that the LTD front guard was slightly more flared than the stock 75/76.
i have an early 75 and two 76 LTD and the guards are identical. these are all AU delivery , so it's possible that the US
models did in fact have a differently styled flare. much in the same way that the EU model LTD had the elongated rear
mudguard. how do we find out for sure if this really is so ? i really would like to know.
