my welder is pretty cheap. I have 2 temp settings and wire speed..that is it. lol
Got a friend that is an actual pro who's going to give me some lessons.

I just picked this up for $200. It weighs 900 lbs. I haven’t picked it up yet. They claim it works. Must be from the 60’s but reputed to be a fine indestructible welder. Looks like it has pedal control and has AC/DC so maybe I can play with aluminum.

Find out in a few weeks, maybe months if it doesn’t warm up.

I have been relatively happy with my $200 HF tug welder. I’m very slow which is a no-no but most of my stuff is hanging together. I keep a close eye on the front end of Schizoid since that is raked like HOTT did Ol’ Sparky. So far so good. The key with TIG is you have to have everything very clean. I’m guessing that’s true across the board for welding.

that is definitely an old girl for sure.
I've welded brackets on my saddle bag mounts but that will be the extent of me welding on bike frames. If I need something welded I will gladly pay a pro to do it right. I don't need parts falling off on the highway. lol

picked up my body panels today. dancr
stored them in the camaro..it was the only place I could think of that they wouldn't get bumped.
I'll move them to the bike shop this spring after I get the shelves built.
There are ghost scallops on the shelter sides and the side panels..

holy thread resurrection batman.
I didn't manage to get the shelves and work bench built in the shed..or get it insulated this summer..
also the car project I posted about got put on a back burner so considering I had stored my car away to free up a side of the garage I filled it with this. Going to strip her down over the winter and repaint, polish, power coat, etc. This is my only winter project so my goal is to actually finish it this spring.
let the fun begin..

has anyone ever seen crash bars with highway pegs incorporated in them before?

Image

or a rear crash bar like this? you have to remove the passenger foot peg and there is a brace that goes to the front foot peg.

just an update to let you know I'm still working on it..slowly. lol
Put the lift together yesterday and got her strapped down. I'm in the process of pulling the engine. I wanted to do it with the bike on the ground so I wouldn't have to man handle the engine off the lift but after eye balling that c clip on the drive shaft I decided to do it as per the service manual and pull the swing arm.
So far I'm very impressed with the lift. It's our version of harbour freight and seems very well made.

That lift will become your best friend.

And I know I'm a little late on this comment, but your paint job above is absolutely gorgeous.

I think you are right. I'm attempting to design a removable "bracket" so I can put my wife's ryker on it. I have it planned out in my head. the wheel chock is my stumbling block right now. Her bike won't clear it.
Thanks. brandywine is one of my favorite automotive colours. Can't wait to get her back together and out in the sun.
