There I was poking around on eBay...

and I found this. A 1976 GL1000 with a Vetter Terraplane attached. dancr As you can see this thing just screams the 70's. At first I was just interested in acquiring the s/c because they are getting extremely difficult to find. But to find one in this good of condition was too good to be true. The Vetter will go on my yellow 76. I'll be picking it up on Saturday! I'm thinking now that I may keep the bike and undress it it a little. The link below the photo is to a video shot by owner #3 in 2012. Be careful it's a little raw at the beginning.

Interesting. I just sold a GL1000 and Terraplane in March of this year. It was much more of a project than this one and I finally admitted to myself that I just didn't have the time, motivation (and room) for a project of that magnitude.

That one is pretty sweet.

This is the one I just let go - and on its way to California:

As much as I do not like a full dresser bike..I wouldn't do a thing to that except shine it up and ride the wheels off it.

Elvis has not left the building! That is definitely a time warp - Agree with 5speed, clean and ride, be a conversation magnet wherever you go. Great find.

question for you..is the oil cap relocation something aftermarket or home brewed? It's in a much better location then the factory one.

That's an aftermarket dipstick. A bit of a pain to check the sight glass with the side car hanging off there...

The closer I look, the nicer that thing is. Being nosy, I looked at the ebay auction. Looks like the car has a really nice upholstery job done, too? Just needs gas and oil from the look of it!

Same here...just as a general rule, the full dresser thing isn't my cup of tea at all, but if I had that setup in my garage I'd just square up the mechanics and enjoy the time warp... How fun :).

Congratulations. Looks like a very interesting piece of history. Aren't those Harley bags and trunks? And maybe the front fender as well.
