the last couple of weekends I have been working on the bike (okay one weekend was a three day 2-wheel trip), but no pictures. I thought I would drill and tap out the two snapped off mounting bolts.... the ones on the engine that mount to the shield behind the radiator.... opps, cannot get a drill in there once the engine is in the frame!

Put on the front forks and front wheel and the rear swing arm and wheel.... opps... the fork ears have to be in place first... and opps... there is a gasket/seal where the rear drive mounts to the pumpkin

Who the heck thought of the idea of a circlip where the engine drive connects to the shaft... only takes a second to put it on AND forty-five minutes fussing with it before that one second

at least now it is starting to look like a motorcycle

Just think of all the practice you are getting though, tear apart, put together, tear apart again, put together again and so on and so on, sooner or later you can do it with your eyes closed.

ok, I admit, being doing other things and occasionally putting things together. Was about to put the timing belt covers on, and looked at the cam wheels. They had some rust and, yes, I am OCD and no one will ever see this, but I cleaned them up and added some powder coat.... Still thinking of taking the tensioners off and cleaning up the heat shield behind them

if it is put on the right way it is, but if it is put on the other way it is not. They are the same. the difference is one side is stepped out, and the other side is not. With the belt on, it lines up with the center pully

I have actually putzed on this off and on. the biggest problem of a project that takes time is that I put something on, only to discover I have to take it back off, because something else has to fit! Also, we are packing for a move.... seems I cannot find the radiator overflow  so one is on the way from fleabay.

The belt covers I have looked "so-so". One was chrome (and shows small signs of lift-so will need to be eventually replaced) and the other had been polished, but now had some staining. Anyway, decided they would like a lot nicer with a coat or paint

also, replaced the starter (it had been chromed and did not look good)

put oil in the engine... mounted the radiator and

%$^&*! coolant leaking at the left crossover and attachment to the engine  .... so drained it... took it apart.... the O-ring was pinched and....... I must have had a brain fart  ... there was no gasket where it attaches to the head and I do not recall seeing an extra gasket laying around... so :dunno:
