It would depend on what type of line you are trying to lay with the tape. I have personally been using all of FBS tape products. I dig this tape they have that is very thin. It is not very flexible, so you can only get gradual bends. But it leaves barely any paint edge due to the thickness of the tape. It is a rice paper tape. I will get you the link. But in my experience with tapes, this company has way more flexibility than 3M products. If you are looking for something that you need to do some tight bends, I like their green tapes. Very similar to the blue 3m, but it does not rebound as badly if you leave on over night.

I would also add that the crispness of the edge will also have something to do with the surface you are taping on. Sometimes a topography will cause some subtle variances along the edge. If you are taping over anything metallic, always safer to throw some intermediate clear, or intercoat clear, then lightly sand. Or use a 2k clear to seal it all down. I generally will use a PPG product called DBC500. Matrix also makes a great product very similar, and a bit cheaper.

Here is a link to their site.

On a side note, if anyone is going to be at SEMA this year, I will be working for House of Kolor at their booth doing demos. Stop by and say hello.

One thing to say about Mr. Mike & his painting skills: HOLY SHAMOLY!
If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. I got some more time in on the chassis while I await the powder coat and spokes. V Rod headlight and brackets will get blacked out in the next week.

Yes, wow. It is really interesting that you used that tail light! I have purchased the same one for my Dumpster project but as it requires drilling at least two new holes in my freshly painted fender, I have been reluctant to proceed until I was sure that was what I wanted to do. Looking at yours I am now satisfied it will work. Thanks for doing it first. action1

Thanks fellas. Appreciated. I put a bend into the taillight's metal base to contour better on the fender. The rubber gasket takes up the gaps nicely. It is a very clean light with LED plenty bright.

I got a lot done past few weeks. Powder coating is all done. Painted quite a bit also. Ordered new spokes, they are on way. OH...link for spokes. It was brought to my attention that Honda 750A spokes are same as GL1000. http://www.vintagecb750.com/search/?q=spokes
ON SALE 36 bucks a set.

The seat pan I made was sent off to a buddy in Phx who is the lead upholster guy at Kachina boats. Carved the shape using my templates, and covered it. Very comfy.

The front end was a real treat. Thought maybe the seal would come out from the top with out removing the tubes and unbolting the assembly from the bottom. As it turns out, someone had sealed in the seals with silicon, and then put on the dust caps and formed a perfect mold between the failing seal and the underside of dust cap. :) So then, I went to unbolt the bottom screws and they were stripped. YAy me...... Drilled out the bolt and got the tubes to drop.

Tore down brake system. In great shape. Blasted and painted everything. Ready to put back together with new seals everywhere.

New heads back. Going to do a bit of mild smoothing on the to help these Webers flow.
