SOLD IT !!!New 2 me, '84 1200 Standard

Life happens while making plans. I was all set to start down the resto trail with this 1200 and someone from Lubbock stood up and said sell it to me. So I did. He's a great guy with a love of wings and will be joining the forum soon I hope. (Admins, does he need to do something to join other than submit a new registration? Has not worked for him yet.)

I haven't even picked him up yet but been shopping for restoration parts. Doesn't look like he will need much with the amount of work done by the PO. One more week and he will be on the trailer back from Ohio along with several sets of bags, racks and such. Scored some OEM emblems for the shelter at a righteous price this week. Looking for lots of pieces that will bring this bad boy back to survivor class....As soon as I make an inventory, I will post my for sale parts list along with a wish list if any of you have spares.. I know I have several 1000 spares as well....I need a quick lesson on managing air shocks so I will be reading a lot. Richard (SunnBobb), plan on sending you the aluminum to do your magic. Mike Nixon is booked through the summer according to his web site so I may tackle the carb rebuild. The last two came out well. I am excited to have another project going after cleaning out the stable over the last few months.

Nice. May I ask... What kind of deal did you get? And good luck.

You might check Randakks list of rebuilders if you don't want to do the carbs yourself. There are others.

.
1976 Goldwing Super Sport
1985 Honda Elite
1976 KZ900 Dragbike
1992 ZX7 Dragbike (KZ900 style motor w/NOS)
and a rotation of various purchases
Randakk approved Carb Rebuilder

Less than Honda charged when they had buckets of the emblems.

Congratulations, one of the rarest and coolest of the early Wings. Have one myself that is going up for sale just as soon as I get the carbs sorted. Have looked high and low for the front turn indicators without success so count yourself lucky that yours has them.

Parts for rear shocks are still available from Mother Honda. The pulse generators are specific for '84.

Thanks for the help. Any threads you recommend for the 84 Standard?

Picked up the 1200 Standard today in Dresden, Ohio. PO (Mike) is a super nice guy. Many boxes of parts included filled up the truck bed. Start home to Texas in the morning. Rode around the block a few times. Wow. These bad boys run very well. Can't wait to start to work in cleaning up, polishing and tuning. PO did a lot of work so the basics are covered.

Congratulations. I got mine running this weekend as well. Carbs were messed up. Runs great now but there is no more room in the stable so it has to go. Shame because it is a really nice bike.

Spent a few hours cleaning and polishing over the last few days; Also fitted the 1100 interstate bags using the 84 racks and some home made structural aluminum pieces. Like the look even though I need to deal with the bag color. Wait? Didn't the bike of the month last month have different color bags?

Need to remove stock turn signals and wire in the signals in the bags if this look works. Too many rear signals.

Thinking about the windshield too. This is a custom made shield for this bike and other GL's. Fit and finish is great but I will mount the national screen and see what it looks like.

Loving the amazing power of the 1200. Pulled away from a stop yesterday in 2nd gear, love the torque. (MIstake)

Looks good. If you take off the rear turn indicators, don't loose them.

I think I will go with Samsonite bags in black and keep the standard turn indicators...The Interstate bags are great but too busy for a standard I think..
