Your work on this is excellent and I am glad you didn't give up after the first few problems. Look forward to seeing it all together. I am not into pinstripes but I have to say it is looking really good.

So, I sold the bike to a soon to be new member. He's a great guy and is dedicated to getting the bike back on the road. I'm moving on with other projects this year.

Interesting thread and build. You're correct in the cost of refurbishing these older bikes. I have been doing my '85 LTD in small work packages - do work/ride/do work - and have kept track of the costs in a spreadsheet. Bottom line is not for the faint of heart.

Final picture before bike was sold would be nice.

Izat 1140? CMXL is 940, so I reckon MXCL is about 1140. Izat your birth year?
If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.
