Is this similar to Water-Wetter? I'll look into it, though I've no issues with cooling as of right now. Oakland / Bay Area temps have been consistently 50/40'F this season... and I figure I'll catch 85/65' this summer.
Patriccio wrote: Also, on the tires I installed a nice set of Conti Attacks because they are used on bigger BMWs, similar weight.
Those are beautiful tires. Look SUPER smooth. However, I'm definitely going to try to mount up something more knobby than that. Thinking viable candidates right now are;
- Contenental TKC80's
- Shinko 804/805 Big Blocks
- Pirelli MT60's
- Metzeler Tourances

...of course, since this is a total rat/budget build... it's gotta be eBay or a C.L. Deal.

Low-Key update:
Image

Shake-down testing the bags / fairing mount job. Rode a small 40-50mi jaunt around the bay area, and all is good.

(Pardon the HENIOUS off-color white the Buco boxes are... They make me cringe too. The paint is en-route.)

Image

...I, for certain, have inavertently built a 'Honda-Brotherson' at this point.

HOWEVER, this won't last for long. Rusty paint and freak accessorizing to come!

I work in engine cooling and our independent tests show hotter metal temperatures internal around the valves with Evans. You will not hear that from those selling the stuff, they make it out to be liquid gold.

March Update!

So, I've been having issues with my truck's electrical system as of late... and so, since C.A. has been having massive rain, I've been prioritizing that. However, I still have spent some time getting the paint started on the bike.

Specifically, the saddlebag lids. They're 70's-80's Buco bags (I think) and were primed in some haggard house-paint before I got them. The goob who did the painting fully coated the locking mechanism and all that, so I spend a good grip of time rubbing it all of with a rasp, then cleaning the residue with goof-off. Nasty stuff, that Xylene.

Anyhow; Since I was back to raw-white, and the bike'll be 'rust' (like, literal rust, done with "Modern Masters' Rust Activator" paint so I can 'rust' the plastic panelling), I figured to make it really 'ratty' a good, poorly drawn, somewhat-oversprayed, hand-touched-up checkerboard design would make the top of the bags stand out.

Did it with matte primer. White X2 and Black X2, then cleaned the lines with some golden Tamaya "enamel" paint pen from back when a 'writing' young malchick.

I'm REALLY gonna experiment with the rust paint before I put it onto my bike. I don't want to mess the fiberglass up, and make it look stupid. This build, I'm REALLY going for the "looks beat up close, but decent far away, and the engine works fine" to deter theft and 'street-modification' here in the East Bay Area.

...and that Warboy look. Because; Witness.

Anyway, here's the photos, and a rough-draft I've been working on of both a SECONDARY exhaust mod (because my KTM cans are scraping during hard cornering, and I'm not trying to 'corner-mod' my exhaust) and a full-draw-up of the mods to come. :flamer

(Drafting the squares Drinking Coffee super late while lesson planning = neurotic square-cutting.)

(Finished [pre-reflective clear-coat] Product. Outlined w/ Gold Paint-Pen)

Image
(Clear-Coated. You can see the 'ish in my design here. NOT 'grade-A' but I'll take it)

Image
(Exhaust Mod V2. Kinda' thinking that a good '4-fingers' on a 1 7/8" 90' bent pipe would make a good, unsupported, weld-on exhaust for the bike. I'd like to put baffles in it... this is just a thinking-out-loud.)

Image
("End Game" drawing. Just playing with ideas. I did come up with the 'put some armor on the saddlebags made from gratings and old enduro tires' idea because of this drawing.)

Great doodles! When I try that, I end up with a pig on wheels, lol! I'm curious how the 'rust' paint will work, too. Like the checker board lids; different!

Dudester, go to industrialmetalsupply.com & check out the metal patinas & finishes (if you haven't already). Sculpt Nouveau has a boatload of finishes that you may be interested in. I was going to use the product on my Puppy, but I chose to paint & use the ceramic paint instead.

Sorry, I don't like that dog's expression. Total lack of enthusiasm.

Absolutely!

VERY happy with the produce so far. It's a cheap Amazon part that fit the OEM bucket perfectly. They had many other designs, but the one I went with showed up as I was going to order, and it's performed flawlessly so far.

...https://www.amazon.com/WHDZ-Headlight-W ... +headlight is NEAR IDENTICAL to what I ordered, and may have been it in truth... but at the time, I ordered on my now-Ex's Amazon account, and can't recall the actual EXACT part!

Sorry if that last bit confuses! Shoot with any Q's you've got.
