Post by Fredmccarty »

Slowly restoring my Goldwing Gl1100 piece by piece. So far I replaced
Rear shocks, Rear tire, Speedo drive, Internment cluster, CB antenna, Brake pads
Rewired all lights, Previous owner messed up.
Speedo cable Tach cable, Throttle cables
Spark plus and oil. Cowl fairing and Battery.
Fuel pump is next, it just started to leak.
The engine is in excellent condition. Just needs a lot of body work and small parts.

Welcome to the club. Nice bike. As you can see, timing belts are a big concern here. But that is because they are concerned for you and your bike. If she has sat, or been neglected for an extended period of time, new belts should be at the top of your to do list. Again, welcome to the club. Looking forward to seeing you around and all the work you do on the bike.

Yea. Was not garage kept. Last owner "said" he did the the belts and starter. But I'm planning on doing a rebuild on carbs and heads in couple months and will look at the timing belts. Have also rewire most of the lights and signals, someone had crossed several wires.

Didn't see where you are from so don't know if it would be cost effective or not but I have a reasonable collection of body parts from 80 - 83 GL's mostly free for pick up or shipping cost......
Wife wants it cleaned out! (Haha, like that will ever happen!)
Things like trunk pad, possibly a cover or complete right bag, maybe even a faux tank. I should have a fuel pump too. Contact me if interested.

I'm in San Antonio, Tx. I'm in need of several body parts, I would be interested.(ie. left side battery cover, luggage parts, my current set is cracking and falling apart.) Just lost the left side cover and right side bag has big hole in the bottom.. ;)

I'll look & see what I have - will you be painting them or do you want a particular color?
I should have 2 bags and the left bat. cover....LOOK ON MY WEB SITE: http://www.docvan.com all mine are std Goldwing bags.
there were some custom ones from Honda.... If yours are like mine, then they're good.
You will need to use your latches/locks.
I'll try to get a rough cost of shipping, possibly USPS or UPS.
email me: docvan1@hotmail.com or call: 973-271-5184
