That was a great suggestion and I'm glad I did it. It looks a lot better. Thanks!

They were surface ground and cross drilled by TrueDisk in Michigan. I shipped them out last Monday and they were done and back here yesterday - one week total. Tom does great work and is very easy to deal with.

After a year away from working on this one, I'm back at it. It went on the back burner while I finished my CB1100F resto-mod and my son's 1100F.

I've already finished almost everything that's going back on the bike, thanks to having spares of nearly everything. Updates will include powder coated swingarm, fork legs, the gold wheels and rotors, fuel tank, brake system valve and belt covers, and much more. Carbs are heading to Mike Nixon for a total overhaul, tires and tubes have been ordered, and the pumpkin will be painted metallic gold to match the wheels.

The entire brake system will be rebuilt including Galfer black braided SS brake lines. The high handle bars will be replaced with lower three piece CB1100F bars that I powder coated in a chrome/clearcoat finish. I'm replacing the original front master with a sleeker looking CB1100F front master. And I have a perfect CB900C front fender to bolt on.

I want to go with some sportier mirrors as well - any suggestions?

I'll update this thread with more pics as I make more progress. Looks like I need to go back and replace all the Photobucket pics that have disappeared... :(

I do hope that you can replace those Photobucket piccs. Looks like s nice survivor. It seems like I might have such a bike as well, but you never know for sure until it runs.

I was able to replace virtually all of the missing pictures, so this thread is back in shape.

I wanted to paint the pumpkin in metallic gold to match the wheels, since the silver just wouldn't look right. I found a Rustoleum product that looked like it had potential, so I shot the top of a junk carb cap and after drying, compared it to a brake rotor that's powder coated in the same finish at the wheels. It's a very good match:

Image

After a thorough cleaning, light sanding, then a final wipe-down with denatured alcohol, I shot three coats.

With the polished hardware back on, I'm very happy with the outcome.

Once the swingarm is off and the junk tank is out, I can finally start reassembly. Virtually every part that I was planning to swap out is now powder coated and ready to go on.
