When I did the head rebuild on mine just recently, I bought:
Head gasket
Water tube o-rings
Intake runner o-rings
Copper exhaust rings
Oil orifice o-rings (there's two)
Coolant elbow gasket
Valve stem seals
Cam seal

All of those were OEM parts, except the valve stem seals. I got new Viton seals off ebay (they're used on a lot of Honda bikes and are pretty common apparently). I actually ended up with a spare set of intake runner o-rings , because I didn't realize the Randaak carb kit also came with them. If you need them, you could add a valve cover gasket and the seals for the bolts, but that should pretty much cover it.

Hey guys thanks for the help !

I finally decided to order the athena kit, a bit expensive but supposed to be oem quality like. availability is poor, i expect the delivery within 2 weeks, before that I will chech the compression, and maybe will have to rebuilt the starter before that because it seems very weak...

If the 1200 is anything like the 1100/1000, you should really have a close look at the water pump area, as you can get oil/coolant mixing if the water pump isn't properly installed.

yes aaudiowize, you may be right since i checked the compression today ( with a weak starter but anyway) and got between 135 and 145 psi, seems good enough...

Finally had some time to check the starter ...
The bolt connecting the positive from battery had turned a bit and broke the welds so i just welded it back and it seems better now i Will just keep the rebuilt kit in case !

Still wondering about the final style of the bike and since i dont want to cut too much of the frame i'll keep the standard tank in place and work on a neo bagger like bike. Long and low i need some more hours on photoshop ;) next step anyway is to drop an rebuilt the engine

Good fix on the starter.
You'll probably get better compression figures if you test it again with a faster starter.
+1 on the water pump.

If you are pointing to the three yellow wires, that is your stator wires. The circled item is your ignition module. B is your coolant temp sensor, and I don't quote me, but I think A is your oil pressure sensor.

Yup Sensor for the oil light=A, Sensor for the Temp Gage=B, The unit on the rear you have circled is where the Ignition Pulse generators and trigger wheel. The 85 and up have them in the timing covers up front

To me the belts look very clean and sharp, no cracks or any damages visible.... Do you have a trick to check and decide if they should be replaced or not ?

also about the water pump so far so good, but maybe i'm missing something to check?

No trick on the belts. I've seen broken ones that had good shape to the teeth, etc. I replace them once a year. The number of miles on them is as important as the number of heat cycles they go thru.
if a belt breaks while the engine is running, more then likely a valve will go thru a piston. Beter safe then sorry

Hello, i would like to have your comments on these :

A large piece of head gasket was somehow pushed inside the coolant area on the left side... dunno if its an indication of a damaged one...

Image

any other comments about general condition of pistons or else?

thanks a lot
