My Hat's off to you. I've never had the guts take on a full blown basket case. I much prefer the 'Ran When Parked (20 years ago)' projects.

I'm ashamed to admit when I've bought a basket case, I've always ended up parting it out on Ebay and buying a project in much better shape with the proceeds...

Good Luck!

71 CB500 - Recently turned back into Project :(

Scored the tank cover off Ebay today for a good price.

For those looking, sometimes they're listed as seperate pieces, sides and the two top "doors".
If you can find the sides,
the top doors are the same as used on the Interstate and Aspy models.

Funny Roncar was over yesterday and we were discussing this.
I had mentioned that when I get to this build, I'll probably try to use a GL1100 tank cover, add a front tab mount, etc. and document how it goes.
Now I won't have to, but will try to remember to fit a early cover over the frame and see what it takes to make it work.
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

This is my $100 buy from last month. Runs when push started. Needs starter clutch. This is my winter project. Engine will be coming out to do that very soon.

I will be. I need to finish the 86 Shadow I am working on first. Almost done with that. I have limited space. My "shop" is a 10 x 10 "Portable Garage" from Harbor Freight in my back yard. I don't want to have 2 bikes disassembled at the same time.
