Super clean installation of that coil & ballast. Nice
If we can't fix it, we can fix it so no one else can.

Good for you! I love the paint color and the black rims.
I bet you dad will glow for weeks and months for Sure!
(I have a similar story and sold my dads intended gl1000 a few years ago to pay my mortgage around Christmas. I gave him a rebuilt 78' for this Fathers Day and it was a surprise for sure. He cried a little and it took a week or so before it really sunk in.

Re: Dad's Bike...a new build...
Well the bike has been delivered, it rained most of the time while I was there so we only got to go around the block a few times...the bike is running great, I changed out the exhaust clamps to the t-bolt style which minimized the exhaust leak. Readjusted the clutch and re-sync'd the carbs. He loves it... I can't wait for him to be able to put some miles on it.
It is a bit tall for him, but manageable...I have an extra seat that I will try shaving down a bit, or may have one made locally on the seat pan just to make it a bit easier.
Thanks again for following!

Re: Dad's Bike...a new build...
So dad's got about 400 miles on her now, says he's going to change the oil /coolant and check the plugs this weekend. Running good despite some folks at work messing with the idle(adjusted it all the way in so was idling at 3000rpm) and disconnecting the speedo cable. Has gotten quite a few looks, especially with it being Biketoberfest in Daytona.
Fan isn't coming on and temp gauge isn't working, but I should be able to fix the fan issue when I'm back to visit for thanksgiving. Will also re-check compression and sync while I'm there.

I know the folks, where your Dad works, are trying to help out, but I think I would very kindly ask them that they 'Step Back From The Bike' 400 miles is a great start!
Cheers,

Why on earth did they disconnect the speedo? +1 agree with Robinrobin1731 wrote:Casper wrote:I know the folks, where your Dad works, are trying to help out, but I think I would very kindly ask them that they 'Step Back From The Bike' 400 miles is a great start!

Hope you sort out the fan and temp gauge, let us know how you get on.
