WOW, very impressed. I work on bikes for a living and I have to drop engines and re-install them sometimes 5 times a day, so its really impressive to see someone else just go at it.
great attitude "theres a job that needs to be done, so do it"
It would not have been much work to have the cylinders honed and new rings gapped and installed. and a decent engine shop would be able to do a 3 angle valve grind on the heads for under 100$, at least thats the rate around here.
when we pull a vintage honda motor out, it gets new pistons, rings, hone, valves, lap, and 3 angle grind, unless its a performance motor and we have to do a custom grind for power. it really is not expensive to do that stuff at all if you bring the parts into the machine shop

Thanks Guys!
I didn't send the motor out to the machine shop cause I was trying to save some money, but that is a good idea.

Yep, and I'm going to shamelessly steal a couple of ideas for my '78...(if I ever get back on it).
Yours is about as nice as they come.

I appreciate the nice comments guys...thanks!
I wasn't happy with how the seat was fitting, so I found another one and installed it a bit closer to the tank and pulled it down for less of a gap....maybe I should name this one
Persistence. lol

Wow MW
The black fenders, wheels , valve covers and tires make the bike.
Plus the clear coat is just dripping off the covers, it looks wet.
I like mucho.

I painted the wheels graphite.
My painter did a really great job on the bodywork and fenders.
I found the seat from a recent Sportster, but I dont' know the year...it just fit well.

That colour combination is absolutely stunning. A magnificent specimen indeed.Motowalt wrote:
You got everything 100% right. She goes into my poster collection.
Just out of curiosity, those 83 front forks have anti dive but they also have odd size calipers
since the 1100 the brakes were linked, as in the right front and the rear operate together from the foot brake pedal.
Did you link the front calipers together from the hand brake?

Hey thanks Liam,
For the front brakes, I bought a new Nissan racing front master cylinder and used a double banjo bolt, running two Galfer SS front brake lines, one to each front caliper.
They are not linked to the rear brake at all, and they work very well.
Plus I was able to eliminate the '77 brake pressure switch and splitter (which is hard to bleed) in the process. The Nissan master cylinder has an integral electric brake light switch.

With that colour combination she could pass for a 2014 model.
I am not a fan of customising, I prefer ( at least until I saw her) the factory look, but you
are making me think a bit differently now.

Brakes were linked on '83s only.
