Re: Never Ever B4 seen photos of a Goldwing
The first snort of the Lagavulin would most certainly knock the socks off a novice scotch imbiber. I love the flavor. It is so distinctive, unlike the smoothness of the Oban or Glenlivet. Heavenly. I think I'll keep drinkin' it until it's all gone.
(Check out that viscosity! Sticks to the glass!)
Headers & mufflers are now welded together & installed. I still have to make brackets and do one more thing--
GO BUY SOME EAR PLUGS! Yea, these cans are race cans & they make the Puppy sound like a drag bike. It really breathes now, & it really just moves; it scampers & leaps w/ leaps & bounds. I get a few pops, but when I accelerate, it growls. Growling is quite good. It keeps the non-growlers at bay. I have to have the guy at Ye Olde Welding Shoppe weld some brackets onto the header pipe, & then I can make some straps to affix upon the frame. After the brackets are welded on, I can paint them.
One little point of contention here, though; they aren't the same length. I didn't measure them on the bike. I measured them w/ the headers butted to each other, aligned, off the bike. The welds are solid, so I just might leave it.
(Top pic exaggerates the difference in length.)

If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.

Re: Never Ever B4 seen photos of a Goldwing
[FYI. Some of you may know this, but the letters "Ye" were an old typesetters' symbol for the word "the" & are pronounced just like the word "the." I think I was paying attention to Mrs. Thomas, my seventh grade English teacher, when she imparted that bit of knowledge to us 14-year-old nippers. From that point on I could roll my eyes when I heard some adult in an antique shop pronounce it "Yee." "Yee Olde Blacksmith Shoppe" What in tar nation does that even mean in English?]

Exhaust looks great. I regret not getting those larger diameter cans when I did up my pipes.

Re: Never Ever B4 seen photos of a Goldwing
Sorry. I had a wonderful paragraph written about my escapades, but the web site or Mother Nature intervened & deleted
every single word.
Bike over-heated & is now dead. It's only good for an advertising prop. When my computer & all the attached electronics are working properly, I just might post more info.

Here I am less than one block from the beach. While waiting for my son to pick us up in the truck, I was thinking that I could simply walk over to the stairs in the background, swim to Japan, and complain about the bike not lasting as long as it should.

My eloquence has been rejected by some Electronic Demon in the vicinity. Probably not a dwarf ninja. The bike & I had to be retrieved from the side of the road.
Here it is, illegally dead in a fire zone.

It over-heated & smoke billowed from the left (driver's perspective) set of headers. Electronics are dead.
Loaded & ready for the quiet ride to home.
Certainly, and without a doubt, it is truly time for some of that amber nectar.

Well that's a bummer Patrick. Have your stout drink, sleep on it and check it out tomorrow...or not. Hopefully its not too serious.

Well, you seem to mastering the art of break down recovery...
I'm very sorry to hear about the Puppy's misadventures Patrick.
This time overheating, smoke and dead electrics. That's a comprehensive list of things you don't want going wrong, especially all at once. About the only thing that remains unaffected is the air in the Puppy's tyres it seems. I don't blame you for turning to the bottle, but please ask your son to hide the matches
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the both of you!
